Welcome to League City
The City of League City is located near the Texas Gulf Coast, just 20 miles south east of Houston in northern Galveston County and the southernmost part of Harris County. The city is situated on the south shore of Clear Lake and directly on Interstate Highway 45 (Gulf Freeway). The City has a population of approximately 68,000 and encompasses an area of 55 square miles.
League City has a diverse and rich heritage evidenced by our historic commercial district. The crime rate is low and the educational system is exemplary. Because of the numerous and various industries rooted in this area, there has been economic growth. Industries range from aeronautics to chemical: The Boeing Company, NASA, JohnsonSpaceCenter, Dow Chemical, etc. Our city is also known for its recreational activities (i.e. boating and fishing). Because of all of these advantages, our city is clearly the most natural destination for family and businesses.
• New Recycling Drop Off: League City is going green. League City resident now have a new option in recycling. A glass recycling drop off location has been set up at the League City Public Works building at 1535 Dickinson Avenue. The hours of operation are Monday – Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
•City Departments on the Move:The Fire Marshal, Planning, Building Inspections and Economic Development Departments will be moving to the Amegy Bank Building located at 305 E. Main Street on Thursday and Friday, August 14 -15th. They will be joining the Engineering and Parks Departments, which moved a few weeks ago. While the Building Inspections Department will remain open during these days, please be patient with us as some operations may be limited during this time.
Our new mailing address will also be 305 E. Main St., League City, TX 77573. When sending mail or deliveries via courier, please address it to the appropriate department. Our phone numbers will remain the same.
We hope to provide more efficient service to our citizens and customers by consolidating the land management functions at one location. Our new location will feature a customer-friendly lounge where citizens and customers can stop by to find out about the construction next door, apply for a pool permit or simply enjoy a cup of coffee while logging onto our wireless internet.
And, that's not all. The move is just the first phase in streamlining our processes in order to provide the community with the service that they expect and deserve. In the next three months, the departments will be working steadfastly to coordinate and implement these services.
