Public Hearing on Ordinance Revisions scheduled for July 26, 2011

City Council will hold a sixth public hearing on proposed revisions to oil and gas well and pipeline regulations at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in Council Chambers.

Planning and Zoning Commission's Recommendation

On July 11, 2011, a fifth public hearing on proposed revisions was held with the Planning and Zoning Commission. P and Z recommended approval by a vote of 5-0-0 subject to the following conditions:

  • The title of Chapter 42, Article 3 be changed to Oil and Gas Well Drilling.
  • The title of Chapter 42, Article 4 be changed to Drilling Production, Plugging and Abandonment.
  • Add the language, "Excluding any municipal, private, or public water wells that serve multiple
    residences or businesses shall be determined by the city on an individual basis, but no less than 200
    feet" to Chapter 125.90.G., Item 1C and all other water well setback references.
  • The oil and gas well drilling operation decibel levels will remain 70 decibels in Chapter 125. However, in
    Chapter 42 the noise levels will be limited to the City of League City's noise ordinance that was
    approved prior to the existing noise ordinance.
  • Change the word "Conservation" to "Commission" in Chapter 125.
