              A.     March 19, 2015

              A.     Consider and take action on HC 15-05, 804 E. Main Street, a request to install a tree
              sculpture designated as freestanding art defined as signage, located at the northeast 
              intersection of East Main Street and Kansas Avenue, with the address of 804 E. Main 
              Street.

              B.     Consider and take action on HC 15-06, Walding Station, a request to construct two 
              wall signs as well as a freestanding windmill, which is designated as freestanding art 
              defined as signage, located at the northeast intersection of East Main Street and Perkins 
              Avenue, with the address of 100 Perkins Avenue.

I.                   Call to Order and Roll Call of Members of Historic Commission

II.                Approval of Minutes

     A.                             March 19, 2015

Commissioner Calkins made a motion to approve the minutes of March 19, 2015.
Commissioner Dudney seconded, and motion passed 6-0-0.

III.             New Business

A.                 Consider and take action on HC 15-05, 804 E. Main Street, a request to install a tree sculpture designated as freestanding art defined as signage, located at the northeast intersection of East Main Street and Kansas Avenue, with the address of 804 E. Main Street.

Mr. Granata presented the staff report. He also explained the art defined as signage section of the Sign Ordinance.

Commissioner Guglielmo opened the public hearing at 6:11 PM.

Jay Ewend, Main Street business owner, spoke of his support for the project.

The property and business owner, Noah Espinoza, spoke about the project. 

Commissioner Guglielmo closed the public hearing at 6:14 PM.

A discussion was held.

Crystal Espinoza, the applicant, answered the Commission’s questions regarding the project.

Commisisoner Dudney made a motion to approve HC 15-05, 804 E. Main Street.

Commissioner Walding seconded, and the motion passed 7-0-0.

    B.                 Consider and take action on HC 15-06, Walding Station, a request to construct two wall
    signs as well as a freestanding windmill, which is designated as freestanding art defined as
    signage, located at the northeast intersection of East Main Street and Perkins Avenue, with the
    address of 100 Perkins Avenue.

Commissioner Walding recused himself and left the Council Chambers at 6:32 PM.

Mr. Granata presented for the staff report.

    Commissioner Guglielmo opened the public hearing at 6:39 PM.

    Jay Ewend, Main Street business owner, spoke of his support for the project.

Jennifer Wycoff, Director of the West Bay Common School Children’s Museum, spoke of her support of the project and how the windmill would be a great additional to Main Street.

    Commissioner Guglielmo closed the public hearing at 6:42 PM.

    A discussion was held.

   Steph McDougal made a motion to approve HC 15-06, Walding Station.

   Commissioner Calkins seconded, and the motion passed 6-0-1 with Commissioner Walding recusing
   himself due to being the applicant/property owner.

IV.             Commissioners’ Comments

Gary Walden Introduced Kelly Jensen, photographer who has volunteered to survey buildings.

David Hake spoke on the codes in effect.

Peter Guglielmo noted that the speed of enforcement on Main Street has improved.

Also, SE Corner @ Founders Square pedestrian signal is out.

Steph McDougal spoke on coordinating the survey with the Main Street Plan.

V.                Staff Comments

A.                 Staff update/discussion on the Historic District along Main Street.

Mark Rohr presented for the City of League City.

He updated the commission on the Main Street Plan.

VI.             Adjournment

Peter Guglielmo adjourned the meeting at 7:17 PM.
