PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

Monday, March 07, 2016 at 6:00 P.M.

I.                   Call to Order and Roll Call of Members

Douglas Turner opened the meeting at 6:00 PM.

Richard Werbiskis, Assistant Director of Planning & Development

Matthew Grooms, Planner

Paul Menzies, Director of Planning & Development

Ryan Granata, Planning Manager

 

II.                Approval of Minutes

B.                 February 15, 2016

 

Mr. Wicker made a motion to approve the February 15, 2016 minutes.

Mr. Arnold seconded the motion.

The motion passed unanimously by a vote of 6-0-0.

 

III.             New Business

A.                 Consider and take action on a Preliminary/Final Plat ? League City United Methodist Subdivision, generally located north of Turner Road, south of League City Parkway, east of Butler Road, and west of Calder Road.

Matthew Grooms, Planner with the City of League City, presented, and City staff recommended approval of the plat.

 

Mr. Wicker asked if the property was going to be used by a church.

Mr. Grooms stated yes.

 

Mr. Arnold asked if the zoning needed to be CM (Mixed Commercial) to build a church.

Mr. Grooms stated no, and that religious establishments are permitted in most zones.

 

Mr. Arnold asked if there was any downside for it to be built in a CM area.

Mr. Grooms stated that the CM designation is already on the property, and is the existing zoning there.

 

Mr. Arnold made a motion to approve Preliminary/Final Plat ? League City United Methodist Subdivision.

Mr. McCullough seconded the motion.

The motion passed unanimously by a vote of 6-0-0.

 

IV.              Staff Comments

Richard Werbiskis, Assistant Director of Planning and Development, commented that the current meeting would be the last one for both Ryan Granata and Matthew Grooms, who will be leaving the City on March 18, 2016.

 

Mr. Arnold welcomed the new commissioners.

 

V.                 Adjournment

Douglas Turner adjourned the meeting at 6:08 PM.
