Too Toxic to Trash: Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Event

The City of League City is teaming up with Galveston County, the City of Dickinson and several other organizations for a Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste event on October 27, 2012 from 8 a.m. to noon at Gulf Greyhound Park. 
This event is an excellent opportunity for us to all dispose of household hazardous waste and e-waste the right way! If you have any questions or would like to volunteer please contact Mike Tubbs at mike.tubbs@leaguecity.com! Let's show the County that League City is paving the way for Galveston County with our green efforts and enthusiasm. Now is a great time to start cleaning out your garage and getting all of your items together! Below are the details:

What they will be accepting:
Brake fluid, paint, paint thinner, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides or herbicides, household batteries and car batteries, pool chemicals, motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze.
Household electronic waste (limit five items per vehicles) which includes: Computer monitors, televisions up to 27" screen, computer CPU's, keyboards, printers, cellular phones, etc.
White goods such as refrigerators, stoves, and washing machines, etc.
Tires up to 20" off the rim, limit six per household.

What you can not bring:
Hazardous waste and electronic waste from a business.
Explosives, ammunition, and radioactive materials.
Trash, compressed gas cylinders, fire extinguishers.
Controlled substances.

How to prepare items:
Bring the items in a sturdy box, preferably in their original labeled containers.
Do not mix the items together.
Be prepared to leave your containers and boxes. Remove all other items from your trunk before transporting them.
