2017 Great Texas Warrant Round Up begins Feb. 25

The City of League City is teaming up with law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 300 jurisdictions across Texas to host the 2017 Great Texas Warrant Round Up beginning Feb. 25, 2017.

The warrant round up is designed to target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions.  As the largest joint operation of its kind, the focus of the roundup is bring individuals into compliance with court orders.

Notices for outstanding warrants were recently mailed to individuals who have open warrants with the City of League City.

“Outstanding warrant notices were sent to more than 4,906 individuals,” said Gina Vega, League City’s Warrant Coordinator.  “We have also placed phone calls to anyone with an active warrant.”

Law enforcement agencies, to include the League City Police Department, will aggressively target those defendants on the warrant list once the round up begins.

“We encourage individuals to voluntarily contact the League City Municipal Court to resolve any warrant issues by Feb. 24” said Vega.  “If an active warrant is not resolved by then, our warrant officer will pick-up individuals at their home, workplace or business. Additionally, individuals who are stopped by any law enforcement agency participating in the Great Texas Warrant Round Up will be picked up and required to make arrangements to clear up their warrant.”

A special task force has also been established to solely focus on locating defendants with outstanding warrants through a license plate recognition program and whose parked vehicle has been documented multiple times at specific locations.

Individuals may make payments online at https://www.municipalrecordsearch.com/leaguecitytx/Cases.   Contact the Municipal Court (281) 554-1060 for additional information.
