The City of League City has entered into a pre-development agreement with a private developer who is proposing to fully fund the design and construction of a new City sportsplex on 106 acres of City-owned property on the west side of I-45. In exchange, the current property where the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex is located will become a mixed-use development which will include live entertainment, hotels, shops, restaurants, recreational activities, professional sports, and Class A office space.
The League City Council signed the pre-development agreement with Epicenter of League City, LLC at a special Council meeting on Tuesday, October 30. As part of the proposed public-private partnership, Epicenter of League City, LLC will create Epicenter League City, a vibrant community hub for meetings, entertainment, economic development, and innovation designed to make League City a dynamic cultural center and national destination.
As part of the proposal, Epicenter of League City, LLC will fund the design and construction of a new and much larger sportsplex to replace the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex, which is currently at full capacity. There will be no interruption of service to users of the Davis Sportsplex while the new facility is being constructed.
