AmeriWaste no longer picking up recyclables in open-top containers

Starting on Thursday, November 8,  League City’s solid waste provider, AmeriWaste, will no longer accept recyclables placed on any open-top containers. AmeriWaste will now ONLY service program recyclables in the new, 48-gallon closed-topped recycle carts or clear, plastic bags and broken down cardboard outside of the cart.  If there are mixed items in cardboard boxes, the trash truck will pickup. 

On November 1, AmeriWaste began the process of picking up the old 18-gallon, open-top recycle bins from the City’s previous provider, Republic, in an effort to help eliminate loose and flying debris around the City. AmeriWaste temporarily allowed the use of Republic’s containers while transitioning as the City’s new service provider and delivering new, closed-top carts to residents. If you have not received a new recycle cart and wish to have one delivered to your residence, please contact AmeriWaste at 281-585-3200.

AmeriWaste will also pick up 96-gallon Republic recycle carts from residents who participated in the previous pilot program on Monday, November 19 and will replace them with new, 48-gallon carts.
