Citizen Police Academy

Citizen Police Academy


The Citizen Police Academy was formed in League City in 2002. It gives residents an opportunity to see how and why the League City Police Department operates as it does. Classes begin in January and August of each year and run for 15 weeks with meetings once a week.

Applicants must be employed in League City or be a resident, at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and pass a background check. The next class will begin on Thursday, August 10, 2017. Applications can be submitted all year and can be scanned and emailed, sent by USPS mail or turned in at the police department. 

Students will receive instruction on:
  • Accident investigation  
  • Detention Officers
  • Criminal investigations
  • Family violence
  • Firearm safety 
  • Illicit drugs 
  • Juvenile laws 
  • Patrol operations
  • Texas penal code
  • Traffic law
  • Use of force
  • And much more
