Parks Recreation Events

  1. Youth Basketball Registration Begins

    October 1 - October 27

    This recreational program will help children develop basic skills and fundamentals of basketball through recreation play. Age Divisions: Co-ed 6u (Ages 5 & 6) Girls/Boys 10u (Ages 9 & 10) Girls/Boys 8u (Ages 7 & 8) Girls/Boys 12u (Ages 11 & 12) Girls/Boys 14u (Ages 13 & 14) Location: Hometown Heroes Park, CCISD gyms League Season: December 13, 2014- February 22, 2015 Games: Saturdays Fees: League City Residents $80 Non-Residents $95 Registration Date: League City residents: October 1 – October 27 (or until all slots are filled). Non-Residents: October 15 - October 27 (or until all slots are filled).

  2. Houston Rockets Mini Dribblers Clinic for Kids Ages 5-10

    October 5, 1:00 PM - November 9, 2:15 PM @ Hometown Heroes Park (formerly Eastern Regional Park) Park Recreation Offices

    The Houston Rockets Mini Dribblers program is an excellent way to introduce our young, future basketball players to the fundamentals of dribbling and working alongside other. Each participant will join in six, one hour and fifteen minute sessions teaching and improving ball handling. We instruct the players a dribbling choreographed routine to be performed on the main floor before Rock home game (game TBD). After the performance, our young athletes will be able to stay and enjoy the game along side friends and family.     The League City Parks Recreation Department would like to invite you to welcome the Fall season by attending our annual Harvest Festival. The activities for the day will include arts and crafts from local artisans. The show will be held at League Park on Saturday, October 25 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. The fee for a 10’ by 10’ booth space is $50. Vendor booth spaces are still available! Call today!   4. Elite Shooting Clinic - Kids Grades 3-11

    October 26, 2:30 PM - November 2, 4:20 PM @ Hometown Heroes Park

    In order to make shots you must prepare yourself before the shot. I would like to offer you a shooting clinic to work on proper techniques such as; catch and shot, shooting off the dribble, shooting on the move. Also stressing the mechanics of shooting. Everyone knows that skill development in practice is so limited, so in order to become a better shooter you need to show up early and stay after to get shots up. How many players really do that? Well here is the opportunity to really perfect and maintain your jump shot during the season! %15 percent of the proceeds benefit the League City Parks Recreation Department.
