2012 Liver Disease Awareness Week

Proclamation
WHEREAS, liver disease does not discriminate – it can strike children, people in their prime, family and career building years, as well as the elderly; and
WHEREAS, people often have little understanding of what functions the liver performs to keep the body healthy or what steps to take to achieve liver wellness; and
WHEREAS, the liver is a vital organ – a person cannot live without a liver; and
WHEREAS, the liver helps the body digest food, store energy, manufacture bile and remove poisons from air, exhaust, smoke and chemicals that a person may breathe; and
WHEREAS, the American Liver Foundation provides education on ways to keep your liver healthy;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Timothy Paulissen, by virtue of the authority vested in me as the 9th Mayor of the City of League City do hereby proclaim April 23-27, 2012 to be
“Liver Disease Awareness Week”
in the great City of League City.
