Renovation of 500 W. Walker


This project is a limited renovation of the current Police Station at 500 W. Walker to convert to a land management building that will house Building/Code Compliance, Planning, Engineering, and Project Management Office.  This project will occur once the Police Department moves into the New Public Safety Facility (PD1101), which has an estimated move in November 2014.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
Cost shown are for the design and construction of a new customer counter area in the lobby for building permits and planning, as well as paint and carpet in lobby and the meeting/conference room. 

Design of lobby customer counter area: $15,000

Construction: $190,000 ($50K of which is for skylight/roof repair - staff estimate only)

Not addressed in this project are space allocation planning nor replacement of the HVAC system. 

Why It's Needed:

Staff proposes to renovate the public areas (lobby and meeting rooms) to create an effective area for people investing in our community to conduct business and meet with the development team to move their projects to completion.
