Special Operations Division
Responsibilities
The Special Operations Division operates within the Support Bureau of the League City Police Department and provides a wide range of professional police services to the citizens of League City. Working closely with the Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Division, the Special Operations Division responsibilities are designed to enhance delivery of police services to our citizens:
     
  • Speed Trailer Requests  The Police Department Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer (SMART) is a portable, self-contained speed display unit and highly utilized tool requested by our citizens. It measures and displays the speeds of approaching vehicles, while also displaying the speed limit for that particular location. The internal data recorder enables the police department to analyze the number and speed of vehicles passing the SMART unit. It has been widely acclaimed by the community. 
  • Parking Nuisance Concerns      
  • Honor Guard 
  • Traffic Enforcement Concerns  To make a complaint about a specific on-going traffic safety problem, contact Sergeant Kevin Schroeder

Lieutenant Buffington has served the Department since 2003 after beginning his career in law enforcement with the Santa Fe Police Department in 2001.
