Overview
The citizens police academy was formed in League City in 2002. It gives residents an opportunity to see how and why the Police Department operates as it does. Classes begin in January and August of each year and run for 15 weeks with meetings once a week.

Applicants must be employed in League City, or be a resident, at least 18 years of age, and pass a background check.

The next class will begin August 12th, 2010. Applications must be submitted before August 2nd, 2010 to be considered.

  • Traffic law
  • Texas penal code
  • Juvenile laws
  • Ethics
  • Use of force
  • Patrol operations
  • Criminal investigations
  • Crime scenes
  • Firearm safety
  • Child abuse
  • Narcotics
  • And many more

Graduates have the opportunity to continue to volunteer and receive additional training in search and rescue, crime scene search, DWI and field sobriety, and Handicapped Parking enforcement if they join the Alumni group.
