Dallas Salmon WWTP 4.5 MGD Expansion:

Projected completion date 12/18/2010
- The construction contract for the expansion of the City’s Dallas Salmon Wastewater Treatment Plant (DSWWTP) was awarded to CSA Construction on May 2,2008, for the contract amount of $23,420,000.
- Notice to Proceed was given on July 21, 2008, with a contracted time of 880 days (December 18, 2010) to reach final completion.
- The project increases DSWWTP’s current permitted capacity of 7.5 MGD to 12 MGD and provides adequate treatment to meet regulatory requirements, for the City’s current and future growth.
- The project scope addresses the necessary improvements and upgrades needed to meet additional treatment requirements and improves overall process, labor, and equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Power efficiency was a priority during the design process, due to rising energy costs. Aeration accounts for approximately 60-70 percent of a typical WWTP’s overall power load, significantly impacting power cost at treatment facilities. In an effort to reduce energy consumption in this vital area, an aeration system providing a 30 to 40 percent reduction in energy usage, was incorporated into the expansion project.
- Currently, construction progress is limited to existing structural demolition and excavation activities until the delivery of major process equipment occurs
