Compliments and complaints help determine our overall customer satisfaction with our performance. Please share your opinions regarding League City Emergency Medical Service employees and the services provided to you.
You may submit a commendation by completing the online compliment form. You may also compliment an employee by contacting any supervisory member of the EMS department either in person or at 281-554-1200.
Your comments will be forwarded through the employee’s chain of command and will be reviewed by the chief of EMS’s management staff. After the review, a copy of your comments will be placed in the employee’s personnel file and the original document provided to the employee.
It is the policy of the League City EMS Department to investigate all complaints against the department or its employees. This ensures the integrity of the department while protecting the rights and interests of both citizens and department employees.
You may submit a complaint by completing the Complaint Form below. This form must be printed, completed, signed, and returned in person to the League City Emergency Medical Service. The person who claims to be displeased must make the complaint. Other persons may give statements as witnesses.
Your complaint will be directed to the appropriate investigating supervisor, who will review and investigate the complaint. The investigating supervisor will provide a copy of the complaint to the employee before any disciplinary action may be taken.
The investigating supervisor will conduct a thorough investigation of your complaint which will include contacting any witnesses and medics and ask them to give statement. Patient run records and other evidence will also be collected and examined. The complainant will be notified in writing of the outcome within 45 days from the receipt of the complaint.
Medical Code Enforcement
Citations issued or differences in opinions between the medical code enforcement officer and the private EMS provider over the issuance of citations regarding League City Ordinance 2008.26 will not be investigated unless there is specific allegation of misconduct against the medical code enforcement officer.
When the investigation of a complaint reveals that the allegations are true, and should be sustained against an EMS employee, the Chief of EMS notifies the employee and may take one of the following actions, depending on the nature of the violation:
- Counsel the employee
- Provide in-service training to the employee
- Reprimand the employee
- Suspend the employee without pay
- Demote the employee
- Terminate the employee
Right to Appeal
EMS employees are afforded the right to appeal the actions taken against them. The City of League City has established procedures for employees to follow in their appeals, just as the Emergency Medical Service department has established procedures for ensuring that complaints by citizens against EMS employees are thoroughly and impartially investigated.
If there is not sufficient evidence to sustain a complaint, the employee is notified and continues on duty. If the employee was removed from duty during the investigation, the employee will be paid for that period.
The League City Emergency Medical Service department is dedicated to the welfare of all citizens and visitors, in establishing the facts regarding any reported incident, and in taking action where its employees have proven wrong doing.
