League City Water Education Award

League City Receives Public Education Award for Water Conservation

The Texas Water Utilities Association has selected the City of League City as the recipient of its Public Education Award for 2011.The city was chosen based on the efforts of the water department, wastewater department, public information office, and utility billing department to educate and inform League City citizens about the importance of water conservation during the record drought of 2011.The group developed a conservation section on the League City website, held multiple outreach events, produced educational videos for LCTV-16 and social media, and held a conservation art contest in partnership with local schools.

“The city is very honored to receive this award. Water is one of our greatest resources, and we are proud that our water conservation team is being recognized for conservation education programs that maximize the use of this limited resource,” said Mike Loftin, acting city manager.
