The Training Division operates from within the Support Bureau of the League City Police Department and develops, implements and schedules all Departmental training. In addition, the Division is also responsible for:

Division Commander Lieutenant Cliff Woitena
Cliff Woitena began his career with the League City Police Department in 1999 and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant. Prior to joining League City, Cliff spent two years as a police officers with the Pasadena ISD Police Department. From 1992 to 1996, Cliff served in the infantry of the United States Marine Corps.
In addition to his role as the Training Division Supervisor, Cliff is also assigned as the Commander of League City’s SWAT Unit. Cliff holds numerous instructor certifications and serves as a primary instructor in the areas of Firearms, Patrol/SWAT tactics, use of force and high-risk operations. Cliff teaches nationally for the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center and the Safariland Training Group. Cliff values training and believes it is an honor to be allowed to serve as an instructor for his fellow officers.
Cliff holds a Master Peace Officer license and has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Midwestern State University, as well as, a Master’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Leadership and Management. Cliff is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 258.
In 2002, Cliff was awarded a Medal of Valor from the League City Police Department and was recognized as “Officer of the Year” for heroism by the 100 Club. Of his accomplishments, Cliff is most proud of his role as a husband and father of four.
