The City of League City officially welcomed two new councilmembers during a swearing-in ceremony on March 29 in the City Council Chambers.
City Secretary, Diana Stapp, administered the oath of office to incoming mayor, Pat Hallisey, and incoming councilmember, Hank Dugie, after City Council passed a resolution canvassing the returns of the Special Election held on March 19.
Hallisey, League City’s 10th mayor, was elected mayor with 2,074 votes. His wife, Janice, and his daughter, Ashley, were by his side as he was officially sworn-in.
Every person who exercised their right to vote “participated in the most sacred thing in this country,” noted Hallisey.
“I thank you for your vote and support,” said Hallisey. “I’m here to serve each and every one of you.”
Dugie, who ran unopposed, was elected to Council Position 2 with 3,402 votes. His father, Henry Dugie, was by his side for his swearing-in.
“I look forward to serving all of you and this City,” said Dugie. “I can promise you two things: I love this city and will do everything in my power to learn something new every day so I can serve this city to the best of my abilities.”
Past League City mayors and councilmembers, along with many others, were in attendance.
Both will serve an unexpired term ending in November 2018.
