Debris Removal


Trash collection has resumed for League City following the recent winter storm, however, residents should keep in mind that this does NOT include pickup of construction, remodel, repair or demolition debris from burst pipes.  This debris including tile, plywood, carpet, sheet rock, etc., is not considered heavy trash and is not part of the City's contract with Ameriwaste. Therefore, it will NOT be picked up  if left on the curb. 

Damage to homes caused by burst pipes is typically covered by Homeowner’s Insurance, including debris removal. You can contact your agent or policy for more information.

City staff is still waiting to hear if FEMA funds will be available to pay for the cost of hiring a company or service to remove construction debris from the front of League City homes that suffered damage from the winter storm. Until that determination is made, residents can take their construction debris to the following landfills:

Loads must be covered with a tarp. $11 per cubic yard. A truck load is $45. All forms of payment accepted.

AmeriWaste (City’s Solid Waste Provider)

To dispose of a smaller amount construction debris, a dumpster bag, purchased from your local home improvement store, can be disposed of for a $77.38 pick-up fee plus a disposal fee of $8.05 per cubic yard of debris by AmeriWaste. Please contact AmeriWaste at 281-585-3200 for additional questions and details.


To ensure pick up of your household trash and recycling, please make sure you adhere to the following guidelines:


  1. Put trash out for pick up before 7 am (or after 6 pm the night before)
  2. Make sure all trash and recycling are bagged properly according to COVID 19 guidelines
  3. Keep household trash/recycling separate from any construction/remodeling/demolition debris
  4. Put acceptable heavy trash items and properly bundled and bagged green waste out for pick up only on the second pick up day of the week
  5. Do not put any hazardous waste with your trash
  6. Only put program recyclables in the 48-gallon recycle cart (NO TRASH) 


Residential Solid Waste providers are prohibited from picking up construction/remodeling/demolition debris and putting it in the landfill with household trash.  This type of debris is the responsibility of the individual homeowner.   Please refer to our website for landfill information and for other methods of pick up.
